ABOUT

Michelle Mount

Drama Teacher at Whittemore Elementry

"Theater builds self-esteem and community, as well as a sense of personal and societal responsibility. The dramatic arts are a creative and collaborative process wherein the diverse experiences of the human condition are expressed, explored, and valued.

Through the dramatic arts, we identify with characters and consequently learn to see ourselves in others. In this way, the dramatic arts cultivate empathy, asking participants to envision themselves in another person’s life circumstances.

Theatre bridges otherwise disconnected experiences, underscoring the more universal expression of the human experience. In so doing, we enhance our understanding of a more interconnected worldview."
